History

2002
cumin GmbH, founded in January by Akin Duyar, first opens its doors and promptly woos Yayla, Alo Vatan, the OTA University of Applied Sciences and the private cable network Tele Columbus as clients.

2003
cumin wins the Kabel Deutschland account in April and sets a milestone in intercultural marketing in Germany: the first time a German media outlet develops its own Pay-TV package for foreign language target groups in Germany and runs target group-specific marketing strategies and advertisements in Turkish, Russian, Polish and Greek.

2004
cumin adds ISH and IESY (today: Unitymedia) to its client list. Soon thereafter,
the first joint advertising campaigns ever conducted by four large cable networks
(Kabel Deutschland, iesy, ish and Kabel BW) debut nationwide.

2005
Kabel Deutschland receives the “Excellence in Multicultural Marketing” award from CTAM (Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing) for its cumin-developed campaign. This same year, the cable network records a market share of 70% of Turkish cable households. After adding Premiere as a client, cumin launches a campaign in October for its multilingual offer “Premiere International” in Turkish, Russian and Italian. cumin also wins AY YILDIZ as a PR client at year’s end and supports the launch of Germany’s first Turkish cell phone brand. The BKM (Besiktas Kültür Merkezi) cultural centre releases the film “Krumme Dinger am Bosporus” in theatres across Germany with German and Turkish soundtracks. cumin created the first nationwide Turkish and German film PR campaign.

2006
cumin Istanbul was founded and promptly wins the European market account of Digiturk Euro, the largest Turkish Pay-TV provider.

2007
AY YILDIZ assigns its creative work to cumin. The campaign for “KolayKart” goes on to be the most successful in the cell phone provider’s history, increasing sales by more than 1000%. Deutsche Bank assigns its entire BANKAMIZ division (offering special services for Turkish-German customers) to cumin.

2008
cumin successfully launches Deutsche Bank’s nationwide BANKAMIZ campaign.
